Overview

Foretype is an autocomplete application that runs entirely on your Mac. Privacy is fundamental to how we built it: the language model that predicts your next words runs on-device, and what you type never leaves your computer.

Data We Do Not Collect

• Your keystrokes or typed text (all predictions are computed locally)
• The suggestions you accept or reject
• Screen contents, personal files, or documents
• Any record of what you write, in any app

Data We May Collect

When you buy a Pro subscription or a Lifetime licence, payment is processed by Stripe. We receive:

• Purchase information: your email address, transaction ID, and plan type

When you activate a licence in the app, our licensing server stores the minimum needed to enforce your plan's device limit:

• Your licence key and the email tied to it
• A device identifier (your Mac's hardware UUID) and device name, so we can count activations (up to 3 Macs) and let you free up a seat

If you opt in to anonymous usage statistics (off by default), the app may send basic, non-identifying events such as app launches to help us improve the product. This never includes your text.

On-Device Processing

All AI models used by Foretype run locally on your Mac. No text, or anything derived from your typing, is transmitted to any server. An internet connection is only used for licence activation and validation, optional anonymous statistics, and app updates.

macOS Permissions

• Accessibility: required, so Foretype can read the caret position and insert accepted suggestions. It is the only access core functionality needs.
• Screen Recording: optional, only if you enable the experimental screen-context feature. When on, captured text is used locally and never transmitted.

Permissions can be revoked at any time in System Settings.

Third Parties

We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for their own use. We rely on a small number of processors strictly to run the service: Stripe for payments and a transactional email provider to deliver your licence key.

Your Choices

You can remove this Mac's activation at any time from Settings → License, which deletes its device identifier from our server. To request deletion of your purchase and licence data, email us.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or this page.
